Join Student Energy and Clean Energy Ministerial on 10 June for the report launch webinar: Global Best Practices for Youth Inclusion in the Clean Energy Workforce.
The global clean energy transition is well underway, generating a huge demand for skilled workers across the sector. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), the global clean energy workforce is growing at nearly twice the pace of employment more broadly, with predictions that an additional USD $2.6 billion will be needed annually in order to train new qualified workers and prevent the sectorβs skills gap from widening by 2030. At the same time, millions of young people are entering a labour market each year that is continuously being reshaped by the energy transition, yet lack the necessary training, networks, or financial support needed to take part.
Several governments and employers are trying to address this gap through workforce development and training programs that specifically include or target youth. The Global Best Practices for Youth Inclusion in the Clean Energy Workforce research report, led by Student Energy on behalf of the Empowering People Initiative (EPI), maps 14 such programs across ten countries, to identify whatβs working, for whom, and why across these diverse case studies.
This webinar will launch and highlight key findings from the report, and feature stakeholders and experts from the field who will comment on how to improve and scale clean energy workforce development programs. We invite policymakers and implementers, energy sector employers and NGOs, and young people interested in the field, to join us for this critical conversation.
