IEA UsersTCP Event: EmPOWERing All: Inclusive Energy Transitions (Online and in Vienna)

April 24, 2024 – April 24, 2024
09:30 am – 05:30 pm
ÖGUT, FFG, BMK

As part of the “UsersTCP: Gender and Energy Task,” project partners aim to explore gender aspects in energy use, analyzing current research, successful examples, and energy policies and technologies from a gender perspective. The task seeks to provide recommendations for better policy design and development processes for energy technologies while also creating practical tools like factsheets, case studies, workshops, and policy briefs.

This gathering will spotlight the research findings and interventions of the IEA UsersTCP – Gender and Energy Task and discuss future developments and challenges in the area. This one-day event will bring together a diverse array of participants, including policymakers, governmental representatives, energy technology developers, researchers, consultants, and providers. Additionally, esteemed representatives from the IEA and TCP, as well as delegates from NGOs, NPOs, and international organizations, will be in attendance. An enriching and invaluable experience is promised for all attendees, offering a unique opportunity for key stakeholders in the realm of inclusive and sustainable energy transitions to convene and delve into critical inquiries:

1. What are the main knowledge gaps and research priorities in the intersection of gender and energy?

2. What cultural, structural, and material barriers hinder the development and implementation of gender-responsive energy policies and technologies, and how can we overcome them?

3. How do inclusive design processes contribute to making energy technologies gender-sensitive and adaptable to the needs of diverse user groups?

4. How can we integrate gender perspectives into the design of energy technologies and user solutions to ensure their inclusivity and efficacy?

The preliminary agenda includes:

  • An engaging panel discussion on “Empowering Energy
    Users” and “Gender-Responsive Energy Policies”
  • An interactive workshop focusing on “Inclusive Energy
    Technologies”
  • A stimulating dialogue addressing “Knowledge Gaps”
    Ample networking opportunities
