The global clean energy transition is creating unprecedented demand for skilled workers across renewable energy, energy efficiency, grid modernization, clean fuels, and emerging technologies. However, ensuring that young people are equipped and empowered to participate in this transition remains a key challenge. Addressing evolving workforce needs requires collaboration among governments, industry, educational institutions, and young professionals to align skills development, training pathways, and employment opportunities with the demands of the clean energy sector.

The Clean Energy Ministerial’s Equality in Energy Transitions Initiative (EETI) and co-organizers will convene a side event bringing together young professionals, government representatives, industry leaders, and other stakeholders to explore how to strengthen pathways into the clean energy workforce. The discussion will highlight the perspectives and experiences of young people while examining how education and training systems, workforce strategies, and industry needs can be better aligned to support those entering the workforce today and build a skilled, diverse, and inclusive clean energy workforce for the years ahead.

The event aims to increase awareness of effective approaches to advancing youth and women’s inclusion in the clean energy workforce, showcase CEM and global initiatives driving change, and strengthen collaboration among key stakeholders.

The event will also serve as a platform to celebrate leadership and impact through the 2026 Equality in Energy Transitions Awards ceremony, which recognizes outstanding individuals and organizations contributing to a more equitable energy transition.
