Why advancing Women in Energy is so important

Energy is a fundamental enabler of our society and women play a fundamental role in society, so why not in energy? I want to see all brains in the game of improving our lives and those of future generations. I want women to see what a fascinating and important sector energy is and to choose to work in it, to make it better, and ultimately to lead it forward to new horizons. I see women every day making a positive difference in the energy sector, bringing valuable perspectives and novel approaches to problems. The energy sector has a huge weight on its shoulders on behalf of society – to continue to provide affordable energy to increasing populations without increasing its contribution to climate change – we are going to need all the help we can get to achieve this and that means we need more women!

I'm offering the following support for the Equality Initiative

• Promote Equality Initiative activities, events, or achievements by speaking publicly and/or privately
• Provide support in the promotion, review and/or selection process of the Equality Initiative Awards Program
• Participate and or organize in the Equality Initiative regional, locally arranged, and/ or international events or meetings (virtual options included)
• Promote Equal by 30 campaign
• Recruit new signatories for the Equal by 30 campaign
• Communicate about events or achievements on the Equality Initiative’s social media and newsletter, and/or write blogs or other website content;
• Champion the Equality Initiative by speaking publicly and privately

I'm offering the following support to female students and professionals transitioning to or starting out in the clean energy field

• Offer or promote internships, scholarships, fellowships, job shadowing, or training
• Provide advice to early career professionals on finding, applying, and receiving job offers or how to "move up" in clean energy, and where possible actively support other women to advance in their careers
• Share how to gain experience and increase leadership in their sector
• Participate in a formal or informal matching/mentorship program
• Engage with the youth in early education and exposure events or programs to foster greater interests in STEM
