Why advancing Women in Energy is so important

Women have been making a significant impact in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields for centuries.
As the 21st century forges ahead, it is important to focus on significantly increasing the participation of underrepresented groups
in STEM education and careers. A gender-diverse industry will ensure inclusive decision-making that better accounts for diverse
perspectives. Providing inclusive roles for women in the energy sector will introduce broader perspectives, solutions,
and approaches to a sector that is predominantly led by men.

Introducing myself as a female Mechanical Engineer in my part is often greeted with sighs of surprise due to our few numbers.
There should be deliberate synchronized attempts by players in the energy sector to encourage and support more women to take
up careers in the sector. We too can.
