Why advancing Women in Energy is so important

Advancing women in the energy sector isn’t just about fairness – it’s about innovation, sustainability and economic growth. Diverse teams drive better decision-making, foster creativity, and unlock new solutions for the world’s energy challenges. Women bring fresh perspectives to engineering, policy, and leadership, strengthening the industry’s ability to adapt to a rapidly evolving landscape. With global energy transitions underway, and a need to recruit tens of thousands of people each year in the power sector alone to meet UK 2030 targets, we need every brilliant mind at the table. By breaking barriers and ensuring equal opportunities, including wider than just gender, we don’t just empower under-represented communities – we empower businesses, and a future energy system which works for all of society.

• Participate and or organize in the Equality Initiative regional, locally arranged, and/ or international events or meetings (virtual options included)
• Promote Equal by 30 campaign
• Recruit new signatories for the Equal by 30 campaign
• Champion the Equality Initiative by speaking publicly and privately
• Communicate about events or achievements on the Equality Initiative’s social media and newsletter, and/or write blogs or other website content;

I'm offering the following support to female students and professionals transitioning to or starting out in the clean energy field

• Provide advice to early career professionals on finding, applying, and receiving job offers or how to "move up" in clean energy, and where possible actively support other women to advance in their careers
• Collect and share information on best practices for advancing women in the energy field
• Share how to gain experience and increase leadership in their sector
• Engage with the youth in early education and exposure events or programs to foster greater interests in STEM
• Participate in a formal or informal matching/mentorship program
