Equality Initiative at the IEA TCP Universal Meeting

The Equality in Energy Transitions Initiative (Equality TCP) participated in the IEA Technology Collaboration Programme (TCP) Universal Meeting held on 8–9 June in Paris. The meeting brought together TCP representatives from across the global energy community to exchange insights, strengthen collaboration, and discuss shared priorities for advancing inclusive and sustainable energy transitions.

A key moment of the event was the opening address by Dr. Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the IEA, who reflected on the current global energy context, including ongoing geopolitical uncertainties, energy security challenges, and the need to accelerate clean energy transitions while ensuring affordability and resilience.

Equality TCP contributed to discussions on gender equality, diversity, and social inclusion in energy sector, highlighting the importance of integrating intersectional perspectives into energy policy, research, and workforce development. The exchange provided an important opportunity to connect cross-cutting initiatives and reinforce collaboration across TCPs.
